Like many before her, Brignoni had traveled to the Caribbean island for its cut-rate plastic surgery tourism. But something went wrong, and the young mother died of a pulmonary embolism, her family said.
Hunte, 21, who was working her way up the corporate ladder at Delta Airlines, died while undergoing breast reduction and liposuction at a Dominican clinic. They were just trying to make it go away, until the U.S. government got involved.
The Hempstead, L.I., resident suffered a massive heart attack in August 2009 when doctors at the Centro Medico Constitucion administered a lethal dose of adrenaline, her family said. Her death certificate says she died in a drug-related accident during surgery.
