What is Facial Implant Surgery?

Facial implant surgery of the chin, cheeks and jaw is performed at Jacksonville Plastic Surgery by Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. John Obi. The facial implant procedure is performed at our on on-site surgical facility, Jacksonville Plastic Surgery Center, on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia with sedation. *Depending on which implants you choose, facial implant surgery can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Jacksonville Plastic Surgery is an accredited ambulatory surgery center.

Cheek Implants Surgery

*Cheek implant surgery usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes. When cheek implants are being placed in conjunction with another cosmetic procedure, such as a facelift, forehead lift or eyelid surgery, the implants may be inserted through the incisions made for those procedures. A pocket is then formed and an implant is inserted.

There are risks involved with any surgical procedure and the specific risks and restrictions after surgery will be discussed in detail at your consultation with Dr. John Obi. Before the surgery, patients are advised to avoid smoking and taking any medications (aspirin, Vitamin E, etc.) that may affect bleeding. There are physical restrictions immediately following the surgery, and usually patients are able to return to normal activities within a few weeks. You will receive detailed post-operative instructions that will be uniquely tailored to you and your surgery.
